What an idea!

I've always been interested in the odd things people do purely out of habit. It took me until I was around 20 to realize that some of my habitual actions would probably be conceived as odd by others, for instance, I make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with a spoon. Initially after telling someone my secret to PB&Js they would always give me the look of disbelief and ask "why would you do that?" to which I would explain that a spoon spreads the two main ingredients better than a knife AND depending on the type of bread you are using, you are less likely to tear it. The after effect of my explanation was always a look of understanding, nay, enlightenment upon the face of my counterpart.

While in the shower I realized that putting these habits out to the public may prove to be interesting. My goal with this blog is post interactions I have with people about their idiosyncrasies and how it is rationalized in their head. No real names will ever be used unless approved by the source. I will be posting anything that strikes me as being a little different regardless of subject manner.

I suppose the best way to start is with myself, the PB&J was just an example.

At work we have two private restrooms, one for each sex. Occasionally I will walk into one of these restrooms and the smell of someone else's poop hits me like a brick wall and is so offensive to me that I have to walk out and wait for the other restroom to become available. I don't get the rationale behind taking a huge dump in a place where other people know it's you and will be subject to the remainder of it. I understand that no one's poop smells like roses but I also don't feel like other people should be forced to smell the remains of what I ate last night. For all the above mentioned reasons, I will not poop in a restroom located in a confined area or in a restroom with only one toilet. For some reason if there are two toilets I have no problem because maybe it's not my poop that other people are smelling. If I have to poop at work, I will walk to the public restroom regardless of urgency.

So there it is, the first post. I am a bit of a procrastinator so I'm hoping to have at least two new posts every week, but we will find out how well that goes.
